For 2 weeks in August, Dave and I parted our separate ways. He started his 4 weeks of paternity leave by heading east with Gavin for 10 days in NY, PA and MA. I then took the other 6 kiddos and headed to Idaho. Here are some of our activities.

We went to Island Park- Yellowstone for a
Beal Family reunion. It was a lot of fun. I got to see my cousins that I never see. The boys loved staying in the cabin. The hot tub was a huge hit. They also loved the horseback rides,
atv rides and fishing with Uncle David.

While in Boise, I slipped away for a few days in Utah. It was fun to see Susy and hang out with her. We went shopping, watched a few
snoozer movies and talked and talked. Love this girl!!

and this girl!!

We visited with Grandma and Grandpa Smart-

My dad is 58 and Grandma is 92

The first night there, I went to visit
G'ma and
G'pa and to make a long story short,
G'pa had taken a fall and was in need of a trip to the ER. I spent hours there with my dad while they worked on my
G'pa. He had broken his arm and cut his face from his glasses.
G'pa Max is 98. He is a very strong, sweet man. Every person who saw him in the hospital would say, "You don't look 98" I think he got younger every time he heard that as his face would light up with a big smile.

We went to the fair. This was a first for all my boys. We ate food, looked at animals and only wasted a bit of money on rides.

A first
Ferris wheel ride with grandpa

We even chased down the ice cream man. What is more of a summer classic than that?
