Eli was having a few procedures at
Childrens Hospital. They said he couldn't eat after 6:30 am so I woke him up early for a big plate of eggs. It was just me and him hanging out early in the morning.

He took Monkey to the hospital with him.

He looked so cute in his gown and new socks. (one size fits all) Monkey also got a name badge on his ankle. We hung out in this room for like an hour before we took him to be sedated.

We walked him back to the room where he would be put out. They placed the gas on his face. I sang to him. The last thing he said before his eyes rolled back and he was asleep was, "MOM, MOM." It made me cry. Just how sweet that sound. Eli has a mom that loves him. He will receive the best care in the hospital and in his new home.

They marked his hip where he would have the dye injected.

We had a few hours to just hang out in the waiting room. While we waited I found out my Grandmother Smart (almost 92)had taken a fall and was in the ICU. They said things were not good. I was really sad about it. As it turns out she has made a fair recovery and is home. (for now) When they brought Eli back to us he was so sleepy. Everyone kept saying what a good 2 year old boy he is. We waited a little bit and then got
the IV out and we were able to head home. (It actually took forever but it all worked out.)

Results on Eli's hip are still to be determined. I think that it will end up that he will live his life with a dislocated hip. It doesn't bother him and if we start surgery now, it may just be the beginning of
a lot of pain for him and not a perfect fix . Because of infection as a baby, he doesn't have a good fixable hip. We determined through this just how amazing this boy is. He never complains. We sure can learn a lot from the beautiful people of Ethiopia.

Eli LOVES the bath. After 3 days we were able to put him in the bath and take off his bandage.

Our friends the
Landfairs send this survival kit. It was very sweet.
