The "CAGE"

After much HARD work and more money than we thought, the batting cage is up and running. For weeks straight we (Dave and I) would work until dark building the retaining walls. In total we moved 90 railroad ties. We moved tons of dirt. Thankfully the excavator did a lot of it. You can see the laundry was extra fun for a week and my poor legs were bruised. (about 20 at a time)

We started by building the wall on the right. About 6 feet total. We dug the trenches and then rebared all the ties together.
Steve came with his excavator and moved the swing set and a few trees out of the way and moves about 3 feet of dirt from the right of the yard to the left with level being the middle ground. He worked an entire Saturday. We were thankful it was a nice enough day. (Little rain)
The boys enjoyed watching the process and playing on the now level ground.
We had a dump truck full of gravel delivered and hired a few extra hands to help move it all to the back.
Dave drove to Puyallup to help dis assemble the cage. Dave T. - the previous owner delivered it to our house and with some help, Dave put the cage up. He has been so excited. Like a kid in a candy store.
On Saturday October 30th Forstrom School of Hard Ball opened for the first winter training. So fun to have the boys we play all-stars with over for some training in the off season. :-)

We still have to finish the yard but for now the cage is open and the boys go out on dry days to take some cuts and throw some pitches. (Dads orders!)

That makes your backyard to great! I would totally put my kids in the cage and let them run around. Who cares about social services?? :)
