Forstrom Plumbing

Ok, so we aren't going to start a new business but I must say I am proud of our accomplishment this morning.  Last week the powder room bathroom stopped flushing properly.  Actually, it didn't flush at all, it would just drain slowly.  This has happened before so off to the garage to get the snake.  The snake wasn't working so well like it had in the past.  I called my dad (because he can fix anything) and asked for advice.  He said it sounded like we should take the toilet off and see what toys or other objects had been flushed.  That sounded like a lot of work so I headed off to the rental place to see if they could get me a power snake that might work better.  Well, the man there said the same thing as my dad so I knew I would have to take the toilet off and check the drain.  I called a plumber and it was going to be $200 so I thought I would do it myself.  My dad said to go to Home Depot and buy a new wax ring for $5 and this would be easy.  Well he was right.  We turned off the water, gathered our towels and off to work.  It was actually very simple and we were/still are so proud of ourselves.  (Annie-  I am sure you are thinking this is funny- and a no brainer for sure) The first successful flush, we gave a little cheer and a high 5.  The fun things you can do when your husband is off work.  Here is the best part.  What we found in the drain was a sponge.  Well, I don't use sponges so I was wondering were this came from.  I then remembered that the problem started about the same time we had new cleaning ladies clean our house.  Yep-  I think they tried to flush a sponge. Like my dad would say... if you want something done right, do it yourself.  I guess I should clean my own house.  :-) or maybe not.

Sierra - you are my hero! You know that I would have just called 1-800-PLUMBER.

You should talk to Cate Todd about that, she had a similar thing happen. You are very brave! Although, if my husband were home I feel like we could do anything, especially at this point! I was surprised to hear it wasn't a toy. Go Forstroms!

Loved this, noticed that it was Sierra doing most of the work, was Davey giving out the orders. Just kidding, very proud of you two. Thank heavens we didn't get the call this time. Dave hates plumbing!
